Impulse Dance Angels
Introduce yourself and what you do.
Hi! I'm Miss Alexa, owner and director at Impulse Dance Center & founder of Impulse Angels, our special needs program! :)
What precautions do you take in class to protect Aeverie from her allergens?
I pride myself on a very "family-like" environment at Impulse. Myself and the other kids- along with their families- know not to eat/bring any allergen foods for Aeverie and always wash their hands!
What do you do for recitals what all kids MUST be backstage, how do you make that work with Aeverie?
We always allow Aeverie to sit in the front row of the audience and of course to never sell any concessions that contain any form of nuts. I personally run out and get Aeverie from the audience for her dance numbers. Just as an added precaution as well, we do not allow any food backstage.
Is there food sharing allowed for snack in between practice classes?
Yes! We do allow food sharing in between classes. However, all of the students in Aeverie's class try to be conscious of her dietary restrictions to include everyone in snack time. :)
Tell me about your Impulse Angels.
Impulse Angels is Impulse Dance Center's new special needs dance program. The program provides artistic dance movement opportunities for special needs children in Southern Orange County and surrounding areas. No child is turned away, regardless of mental disabilities, physical limitations or age. Ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop classes are offered. The student to teacher ration is raised for the Angel classes so there is more than enough attention given to each student. The structure of the classes has been created especially for these wonderful children in the best way possible for them to succeed. They will never feel out of place.
Tell me about Max (because we ALL love him).
My sweet little brother Max! He's 17 and has severe autism among other medical troubles, but he is the sweetest, most angelic kid. He inspired me to create a program that could provide a happy, safe place for other kids like him to learn, be creative and expand their movement, all while having fund and having a place they belong to! I really believe in our Impulse Angels program and the great progress that can be made both physically and emotionally.
Thank you for everything Alexa!
Love you, you're awesome!
